In Quest Of Sensational Headlines: You Guys Realize The Apple Watch Is Going To Flop, Right?

Date Published:
Last Modified: MARCH 03, 2015 by

It would be an unmitigated disaster in my opinion if the Apple Watch only has 2.5 hours of battery life. I have a hard time believing that Apple would release a product with such bad performance on a critical decision point. So I recommend that you take this with a grain of salt...

> There’s only so much you can do with sapphire glass and power-efficient microprocessors. Current reports say the Apple Watch could burn out in times as short as 2.5 hours before needing a recharge. Best-case scenarios (you know, when you use it a lot less), might stretch its life to 19 hours. But a loyal user of the Apple Watch would be forced to take it off and recharge it four times during a workday. That’s absurd.

> You Guys Realize The Apple Watch Is Going To Flop, Right? | Co.Design | business + design

That being said. Apple really needs to do a stellar sales job on how wonderful this device is.

The Other End Of The Spectrum: Why I'm Betting Big On The Apple Watch

Date Published:
Last Modified: MARCH 03, 2015 by

Personally, I can't wait to hear Apple's pitch on March 9th. If they do a stellar presentation then I think they will have a big success. Where you stand is right now is probably determined by your current perception of the product. It would not suprise me Serenity Caldwell have a better idea of the product then most people because of the excellent job that iMore does in covering Apple.

> At my core, I've always been a gadget geek. Gadgets are distractions, enhancements, delights: They give you something to occupy your time with, a way to learn someting new, or a building block to make your life better. As a kid, I'd carry around any gadget I could get my hands on — garage door openers, Tamagotchis, compasses, binoculars — as an adult, I've largely replaced that compulsion with an iPhone. > >

I think fashion is a secondary concern. At its core it is a tech device with the pretense of a fashion accessory.

Forbes Interview Of Fashion Expert About The Apple Watch

Date Published:
Last Modified: MARCH 03, 2015 by

This expert is evaluating the Apple Watch purely on aesthetics. Strangely see echoes my opinions of the the aesthetics. I am leaning towards getting a watch. I am more interested from a business perspective and I really don't care about how it looks.

I would consider the Apple Watch a unqualified success if it sold a million units. Time will tell.

> Chander: Would you wear an Apple Watch? > > Christine: Not as it looks now. I like my traditional Cartier watch a lot better. However, in order to further burnish its fashion credibility, Apple has taken out a 12 page advertisement in VOGUE Magazine’s March 2015 issue. > > Chander: What specifically do you not like about Apple Watch? > > Christine: It’s too big. It looks like a computer on your wrist. It reminds me a little of digital Casio watches from the 80s. It’s just not pretty. > > Chander: What about all the cool features it has like heartbeat sharing? > > Christine: That’s sweet, but we’re focusing here on aesthetics, not functionality.

Old Watch Repair Conundrum?

Date Published:
Last Modified: MARCH 01, 2015 by

After reading this article I would not be surprised at a $10,000 Apple Watch Edition that needs to be "serviced" every couple of years...

> I think this is a problem that we all ought to be concerned about, and that the major watch companies should be doing more to address. This small set of companies are now selling literally millions of mechanical watches annually (~28.5 million for 2014), with more than 615,000 in the above-$6,000 Swiss watch category alone. These new watches have better materials and lubrication than their vintage cousins, but they still need to be serviced and regulated. Either the major brands need to invest more in servicing facilities, or they need to be willing to work with trained and licensed independent technicians. If they don't, the cost and frustration of ownership will simply irritate us all into forgoing this hobby of ours.

Why The Apple Watch Is Heavily Marketed To Women

Date Published:
Last Modified: MARCH 01, 2015 by

If your like me, you have probably seen the tamping down of expectations, probably by Apple. This is done because it is safer then building them up at this time. It also has the effect to make it shine brighter when we get to see it...

> With the iPhone, Apple learned that mainstream consumers are extremely interested in the design of their tech products, as well as a reliable user experience. The sheer volume of functionality as well as the competitive advantage of one product over another is slightly less important. Apple has already done an excellent job of creating desire for the brand overall, so its goal with the Apple Watch is to gently instill the notion that wearing an Apple Watch is fashionably sound.
